The New Declaration of Independence

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for a people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with their government and to reestablish among the powers of the earth, a republic predicated upon the defense of the rights of the individual to which Natural Law entitles them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, the ownership of property and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, - That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of our rights and therefore these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect the preservation of their individual rights and thus Liberty and Happiness.

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience has shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to take actions sufficient towards returning them to the just inheritance of individual liberty for which their forefathers fought so courageously.

The recent history of the present government in Washington D.C. is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having, in direct object, the diminution of freedom and the establishment of an absolute tyranny over these States. To prove this, let facts be submitted.

The establishment of that monstrous offense to Liberty, the Internal Revenue Service, whose admitted purpose is to confiscate the rightfully earned and justly possessed property of free citizens, not only coercing them into such vile servitude, but further requiring that they report their associations, their whereabouts, their relations, both private and professional, and an accounting of their possessions.

Threatening citizens, towards confiscatory ends, with fines or imprisonment in lieu of their refusal to suffer the indignity of submitting papers to the state giving account of the monies they have earned in a given year.

The abridgement of rights through litigious and regulatory means where legislative means have failed to achieve collectivist ends.

The federal court's abrogation of its primary constitutional responsibility of keeping in check both the legislative and executive branches of government. The federal court instead reducing the power and autonomy of the state courts by striking down their decisions.

Requiring that those who produce pay tribute, submit papers and obtain license in order to offer or trade their product or service.

The confiscation of our property through state governments and subsequent ransoming of monies back to the state governments in exchange for their complicity in all matter of endeavors to modify the behavior of free citizens who themselves work honestly initiating neither force nor fraud.

The constant assaults, threats and general antagonism to the free association of any group, colloquy, fraternity or sorority.

The infringement of the right of parents to choose their children's education and the general hostility to the moral sensibilities of parents in favor of malevolent bureaucrats intent through physical coercion, on the collectivist indoctrination of children and the concomitant whitewashing of our national heritage from our history books.

The dilution of our money by inflating its supply to advance further encroachment of government on our lives and the redistribution of monies to others in exchange for political power.

The intrusion by government representatives into the affairs of business, undermining freedom of enterprise.

Threatening, monitoring, and expressing general antagonism toward citizens who freely speak, write and meet in regards to their concern for the rapid dissipation of freedom endowed to us by our founders who clearly wished these freedoms to be preserved not only for ourselves but also our posterity.

We the people of these sovereign states do hereby submit our official objection to these usurpations. We proclaim that we do not want a new government but rather the reinstitution of the old one on which our current political class has made war in favor of their self-serving despotism.

All those who sign this declaration simply affirm that there is no legitimate or moral sanction that we give to the despots who have taken such dominion over our lives.

We demand that the federal government withdraws its coercion, its threats and its intrusion upon our freedom and return to its original and primary charge set forth in our founding documents of defending individual liberty.
